How do I review AI video before it renders?

You approve a governing keyframe for every shot before any motion is generated, and you approve again at each of the six stages the pipeline runs. A keyframe is cheap to inspect and cheap to correct; a rendered sequence is neither. That commitment is SyntarEngine's Viewfinder Principle, and its rule is short: validate before generate, not iterate after.

Where the gates sit

Six stages, six approval points: the Brief lock, the Storyboard approval, keyframe approval and video review, the Edit lock, the Finishing approval, and the Delivery approval.

The Viewfinder is the mechanism rather than a screen. The product surfaces it as the approval step at each stage; you will not find a button labelled Viewfinder.

Why the keyframe gate is the one that matters

Because that is where the economics change.

A keyframe is cheap to inspect and cheap to correct. A rendered sequence is neither. When a brand-critical detail is wrong - a colour off the palette, a product held incorrectly, a claim that crosses a regulatory line - catching it at the keyframe costs a keyframe. Catching it after render costs a render cycle, and if it reaches a client, it costs more than that.

Every governing keyframe is approved before video generation begins. The director never generates blind. A director commits before rolling.

What this changes about the quality argument

Most complaints about AI video quality describe generation without directorial control: prompt, render, look at it, prompt again. The output drifts because nothing upstream holds intent.

Moving validation upstream of generation changes the arithmetic. It is not that the models are better. It is that the thing being generated has already been checked.

Does approving at gates slow the work down?

Not in the way the question assumes. The gates add review time, not render time.

What they change is what a miss costs. Approval happens per shot, so a shot that misses is retaken on its own and the approved work around it is untouched. A bad beat costs one shot rather than the whole take.

Teams that want to submit and walk away will find the gates an imposition. Teams whose senior people currently spend their time policing output will not.
