Buying decisions and objections

How long can a SyntarEngine video be?

Last updated August 25, 2026

As long as the project needs. Runtime is set by the script, not by the billing unit. Thirty seconds is the yardstick for one Production, which is a divisible unit rather than a block of runtime: every action in a run draws the part of your pool its own scope requires. A longer piece draws proportionally more from the pool, and reuse of anything already composed draws nothing further.

Is thirty seconds a limit?

No. It is the yardstick that makes a Production legible as a unit of purchase.

A finished thirty-second video draws about one Production, so thirty seconds is the figure that answers "what does one Production get me". It describes the size of the unit, not the size of the output. Runtime belongs to the project and is set when the script is.

How does runtime change what a project draws?

Proportionally, and continuously. There is no step where the count jumps.

Your plan's Productions are one shared pool. A ninety-second piece draws roughly three times what a thirty-second piece draws, all else equal, and the same arithmetic holds at any length. Nothing is rounded up to a block, so a thirty-four-second cut draws a little more than a thirty-second one rather than twice as much.

The clause that matters for anyone planning long-form work is "all else equal", because in practice it rarely is. Reuse is always free. A character, a location, an object, a voice, or a music bed composed once is drawn once, however many times it appears afterwards. So a longer piece that returns to the same cast and the same settings draws far less than its length suggests, and the per-minute cost of a recurring format falls as its library fills.

What do longer formats look like here?

FormatRuntime it is built forWhat drives the draw
Social spot15 to 30 secondsOne Production is the yardstick
Brand commercial60 to 90 secondsRuntime, plus how much of the cast is new
Short film5 to 10 minutesScene count and how much recurs across scenes
Long-form episode20 to 30 minutesFormat stability; a standing set and cast draw once

Longer than that is a question of budget rather than of capability. A director with the ambition and the allowance to run further is not held back by the unit.

What sets the practical ceiling?

Two things, and neither is a runtime cap.

The first is your Production allowance, which is what a longer piece consumes more of. The second is the tier, because the allowance scales with it and longer work naturally sits higher up the ladder. Volumes for each tier are on the pricing page.

Does the workflow change for a longer piece?

The six stages are the same at any length, and so are the review gates.

What scales with runtime is the amount of work inside each gate. A longer piece carries more setups, so there is more to approve at the storyboard and video gates, and the review time grows with the shot count rather than with the render. Approval stays per shot throughout, so a beat that lands wrong costs that shot rather than the sequence around it. How SyntarEngine controls the final edit covers how setups are grouped and sequenced against the approved storyboard.

That is also what makes a long piece tractable. The director is reviewing a storyboard and a set of setups, in the same order a real production would, rather than assembling a long piece out of unrelated clips at the end.

Questions

Does a two-minute video draw four times a thirty-second one?

Roughly, if everything in it is new. Less than that in practice, because reuse is free and a two-minute piece almost always returns to something it has already established.

Is there a minimum runtime?

Yes, a short floor, which exists so that a shot has room for its action. In practice any piece with something to say clears it comfortably.

Can I make a feature-length film?

The unit places no ceiling on runtime, so the question is one of budget and schedule rather than of capability. The platform is built for work running from a fifteen-second spot to a long-form episode, and the arithmetic above is what a longer ambition should be planned against.

Do I pay more per second for a longer piece?

No. The draw tracks what a piece contains, and reuse across it is free, so the effective cost per second tends to fall as a piece gets longer and returns to its own cast and settings.

Production volumes and tier detail are on the pricing page. The mechanics of the pool, rollover, and refunds are covered in how SyntarEngine pricing works.
